Winters Wonder and Delight

Enjoy Winter with Wonder and Delight
People use winter as a metaphor for endings. It brings cold, early nightfall, and that long slumber with a distant promise of springtime awakening. But my favorite thing about winter is its endless capacity to surprise and delight!
When we explore winter we see beautiful patterns of ice crystal formations, the serenely soft beauty of a blanketed countryside, and the rosy-violet palette of sunset across a snowy landscape. Winter reminds me that God’s nature is always abundantly overflowing from His creation. He makes all things purposeful, functional, useful and beneficial. And because His nature is also perfect beauty, love and joy, all these practical items are full of wonder and delight, as well!
I live in Maine. Here, winter is perhaps our most challenging season, and yet our family looks forward to it every year because God filled winter with fun and beauty that comes no other time.
