Though the Fig Tree Does not Bud
Habakkuk 3:17 and Slightly Opened Tree Buds, Eastern Nebraska.
“Though the fig tree does not bud and no fruit is on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though the sheep are cut off from the fold and no cattle are in the stalls, yet I will exult in the LORD; I will rejoice in the God of my salvation!” Habakkuk 3:17
Praising God Even When the Fig Tree Does Not Bud
In the first part of the book of Habakkuk the prophet questioned God. He wanted to know what God was doing and why. God then promised Habakkuk that He would act justly upon the wicked and the righteous. The Lord then reminded Habakkuk of the great works He did in the past.
The prophet responded to God with a hymn of praise. Verse 3:17 is part of that hymn.
Habakkuk lived in uncertain times, yet in his uncertainty he responded with praise. May we do the same. Read all of Habakkuk 3.

Thanks and God bless you and your family, Pat. You reminded me of that song:
Praise God from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him ye creatures here below;
Praise Him above ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Yes! (The Doxology is also a great hand-washing song!)
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. romans 15:13
What a great idea! Thanks, Angela, I’ve been singing “Jesus Loves the Little Children” 🙂
Bebe, that’s a good idea too.
Thanks Angela! Great idea!
Amen, Bebe!
