Spring: Time for Something New
Isaiah 43:18-19 with New Green Grass by a Stream, Fontenelle Forest, Bellevue, Nebraska.
“Do not call to mind the former things; pay no attention to the things of old. Behold, I am about to do something new; even now it is coming. Do you not see it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness and streams in the desert.” Isaiah 43:18-19 (BSB)
Something New in You
God’s people were held in captivity in Babylon for 70 years. During that time the prophecies of Isaiah gave them hope of redemption. In Isaiah 43 God told them not to think of the former things that had passed away, but of the new things to come.
One way this prophecy was fulfilled was when the people of Israel returned home, but this prophecy had even a greater fulfillment in Jesus Christ. Through His death and resurrection He redeemed His people. If you have repented and believe in Jesus you belong to Him. He has redeemed you, renewed you and continues to renew you day by day.
Like each new spring renews the earth, Jesus renews His People. He calls us to remember not the former things of our past, but to focus on the work He is doing in our lives today. He also calls us to focus on the everlasting renewal He will give us in eternity. Praise Him.
