God’s Radiant Power
Habakkuk 3:4 and the Sunrise Over the Atlantic Ocean, Melbourne Beach, Florida.
“His radiance is like the sunlight; He has rays flashing from His hand, and there is the hiding of His power.” Habakkuk 3:4
Radiant Power Used for Love
Habakkuk Chapter 3 marvels at the majesty and power of God. It describes God’s majesty and power as glorious “like the sunlight”. Yet it also describes His power in terrifying ways. It says “mountains were shattered (verse 6)” and the “Sun and moon stood in their places (verse 11)”. Nothing can stand against God’s wrath.
In addition to showing God’s wrath Habakkuk Chapter 3 also shows God’s love. In verse 13 the prophet Habakkuk describes how God uses His radiant power to bring Salvation to His people. In verse 18 Habakkuk rejoices in the God of his salvation.
