A Home in God’s Presence
Psalm 84:3 Lark Sparrow in Aronia Berry Blossoms, Washington County, Nebraska.
“Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young—a place near your altar, Lord Almighty, my King and my God.” Psalm 84:3 (NIV)
Living in God’s Presence
Only once a year the Jewish high priest was allowed to enter into the Holy of Holies in the Lord’s Temple. The Holy of Holies was where the Jews kept the Ark of the Covenant. God’s presence dwelled there.
Due to human sin, no other person could enter the Holy of Holies. Only the priest could enter. But birds, like all of God’s creatures, are without sin. It is thought that this psalm tells of a bird (and perhaps more than one) that built its nest in the Holy of Holies and had a home in the presence of God. How awesome!
Read all of Psalm 84.
Love the verses.
Thanks Catherine! So Do I.
This resonated with me- the God of the Universe, the Maker, is also the God of the little everyday things. Thank you.
Hi Dede! Amen. That’s awesome.
