Pride: No Rainbows, Just Barren Ground
Proverbs 16:18-19 and a Barren Desert Rocks, Badlands National Park, South Dakota.
“Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before stumbling. It is better to be humble in spirit with the lowly than to divide the spoil with the proud.” Proverbs 16:18-19
The Bible Says Pride Leads to Destruction
The Bible doesn’t say much of anything good about pride. Time after time God’s Word condemns pride. At its very core pride says, “I am right in my own ways and in myself. I don’t need God nor do I need to follow His ways.”
When we see pride as the Bible describes it, it makes sense that the LGBQT?? community uses this word as their motto. And at its very core, this movement thumbs its nose at God and His created order to do things their own way and call them good.
God calls each one of us to be humble and to walk in His ways. God’s ways are good, pure and lead to life. The LGBQT?? way does not lead to life. It cannot create life and only leads to destruction. No rainbows. Just faded, barren ground.
Pray for those caught up in homosexuality. Pray for our country.
Read all of Proverbs 16.
Amen!
God is in control.
Great reminder! We just visited the badlands last week and one of the signs pointed out that the entire badlands are eroding into the Missouri river basin – there will be nothing left of them at some point! This makes me think about the fact that whatever we take “pride” in fades away – it has no eternal value!
Hi Michelle. Great point. Thanks for the reminder on that. I remember when we were at the Badlands they said they’re eroding away at the rate of 1 inch a year. That seems slow, but that’s over 30 feet in 100 years. That’s pretty fast.
Amen! Thank you for this devotion! I am currently having to deal with this at work (I work for a private higher education institution). I am choosing the path of being humble in spirit (a little hard for me). God is in control, even here!
Thanks Deborah. I’m sure it’s very difficult to work at an education institute these days. The education system is really into the whole inclusion and equity and everything’s OK culture. May God help you to be a light and a witness to those around you who are living in today’s darkness.
AMEN!
