A Moose, a Mountain and an Omnipotent God
Attributes of God Series: 2 Chronicles 20:6 and Moose in a Lake Surrounded by Mountains, Glacier National Park, Montana
“And he said, ‘O LORD, the God of our fathers, are You not God in the heavens? And are You not ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations? Power and might are in Your hand so that no one can stand against You.’” 2 Chronicles 20:6
Our Omnipotent God
To see a moose up close is pretty impressive. One could really see the power in these great beasts. Yet this big powerful animal gets dwarfed by the mighty mountain behind it. And the power of the mountain gets dwarfed by the power of God.
Theologians say God is omnipotent and consider omnipotence to be an attribute of God. Omnipotence means that God holds all power and that His power is unlimited.
God does choose to share His power with people and with His creation. Seeing His power in creation, such as in a moose or mountain, gives us a word picture which allows us to visualize power. This visualization of power helps us to get an idea of the greater power of God.
