Psalm 42:1-2 & a Whitetail Deer Doe, Lake Manawa State Park, Iowa.
“As the deer pants for the water brooks
So my soul pants for You, O God.
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God;
When shall I come and appear before God?”
Thirst for God
In psalm 42 the psalmist longs for God in a time of trouble. He pours out His heart to God in an emotion filled psalm. His words remind us that in both joy and sadness we have a deep need for God.
Let our souls thirst and long after God. For there is no greater desire than to know God and experience His presence. He means more to us than water means to a thirsty deer.

Psalm 111:2 and a Female Elk, Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado.
“Great are the works of the LORD; they are pondered by all who delight in them.” Psalm 111:2
Pondering to Take Delight
While hiking down a mountain in Colorado with one of my nephews he spotted this elk grazing in the woods. I pulled out my camera, took a few steps off the trail and began to photograph her.
As I clicked the camera shutter she looked at me through her cautious brown eyes while she ate. Both my nephew and I marveled at her beauty and gentle majesty. We saw the wonder of the Creator in her and took delight in His creation.
When we love God we take delight in what He has made.

Psalm 33:2-3 and Wolf Howling with Its Pack.
“Give thanks to the LORD with the lyre; Sing praises to Him with a harp of ten strings. Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy.” Psalm 33:2-3
Let Everyone Sing a New Song
It is good to sing a new song to our Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song!
A wolf’s howl is beautiful and one of the most magical sounds in all of God’s creation (especially when a pack chimes in together). There is much beauty in nature because there is infinite beauty in nature’s Creator, our God. The Bible calls all creation to worship its Creator. Let’s do so with gratitude.
