The God of Tiny Seeds
Matthew 13:31–32 & Aspen Trees in the Snowy Range Mountains, Wyoming.
“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that a man planted in his field. Although it is the smallest of all seeds, yet it grows into the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.” Matthew 13:31b–32
Tiny Seeds make Great Things
God does amazing things. He grows vast numbers of trees, and some of them get quite large. He grows them all from seeds.
Some seeds, like the mustard seed and the seeds that spawned these aspen trees, are very tiny. The seeds that grew these aspen trees were as minute as the tip of a ballpoint pen.
God does something wonderful with tiny aspen seeds. He grows them into something wonderful and completely different than a small seed. What is even more fascinating, is that an entire grove of Aspen trees may have come from one seed. Aspen Groves are considered the largest living organism on Earth. All from one tiny seed. Only an amazing God can do such things.
God not only grows His kingdom like a mustard seed, but also like an aspen grove. All believers are descendants of one seed, the seed of Abraham: Jesus.
Read all of Matthew 13.
PS. Here’s a bonus video I took at the time I took this photograph.
I had no idea that aspen seeds are so tiny! Thank Waldo for the tips on backlighting in photos, and in letting God’s light shine through me.
Wow. Amazing!
