“And He {the Lord} took him outside and said, ‘Now look toward the heavens, and count the stars, if you are able to count them.’ And He said to him, ‘So shall your descendants be.’”  Genesis 15:5

So Shall Your Descendants Be

God uses nature to teach us about His ways, and in Genesis 15, God showed Abraham the stars and said to him, “So shall your descendants be.” In this passage, God used the stars to show Abraham that his descendants would be great in number. What a blessing for a childless old man to hear!

God also told Abraham that the whole world would be blessed by his descendants. Over the last 2,000 years, the world has been blessed by Abraham’s greatest descendent, Jesus Christ. And not only that, If you believe in Jesus, one of the stars Abraham saw that night was lit for you! Christian believers are Abraham’s descendants by faith, and through you, God bless others.
