God, My Rock and My Salvation
Psalm 62:6-7 and Bearhat Mountain and Hidden Lake, Glacier National Park, Montana.
“He only is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I shall not be shaken. On God my salvation and my glory rest; The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God.” Psalm 62:6-7
My Rock to Stand On
Before he took the throne as King of Israel, David (the writer of this psalm) spent many years running from King Saul in the Judean Wilderness. In the mountains and rocks, he found secure places to hide, places to take refuge in and places stand upon to see his enemy. The mighty mountains and rocks became his fortress.
The rocks and mountains help David better see these great qualities in God. David knew that God was his ultimate source of strength and protection, not the earthly rocks. Today, we can still find refuge and strength in God. Amen.
In Psalm 62 we read that victory and salvation are found in God alone.
