Freedom in Christ
Galatians 5:1 and the Sawatch Mountain Range, San Isabel National Forest, Colorado.
“It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.” Galatians 5:1
Living with Freedom in Christ
I love the freedom of the mountains. The wide open space and clean air makes one feel alive. There appears to be no boundaries. Spiritually, Christ set us free. We don’t need to work for our salvation. Although He still calls us to obedience (Galatians 5:13 and 16), we live under grace.
Christ has given Christian believers the freedom to live for Him and to serve others instead of serving the law. May we find our freedom in Jesus and live how we were meant to live.
Read all of Galatians 5.
What does it mean to serve the law? What is the law? Did Jesus fufill or abolish it when he came here in the beginning of New testament,?
To serve the law means to try to earn righteousness by following the Jewish ceremonial laws found in the books of Deuteronomy and Leviticus in the Old Testament. “What is the law?” Those are the rules and regulations found in Deuteronomy and Leviticus. Jesus fulfilled those laws for us. The moral laws have not been abolished and we need to strive to live by them, although when we fail we find forgiveness in the work of Christ. Because Jesus fulfilled the ceremonial laws we do not need to follow them and to do so is wrong. Following the ceremonial law was an attempt to earn righteousness. Christ makes His followers righteous. The civil laws of ancient Israel does not apply to us today because the ancient Hebrew theocracy is no more. Hope that helps.
