Laid up for Me: The Crown of Righteousness
2 Timothy 4:8 with Columbine Blossoms and Seed Pods, Eastern Nebraska.
“From now on there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day— and not only to me, but to all who crave His appearing.“ 2 Timothy 4:8
The Crown of Righteousness
When I photographed these columbines I was looking to make a post about redemption. Each flower we see reveals a little bit of God’s redemption. But after processing this photo I noticed the little green “crowns.” So I then began looking for a verse that talked about crowns.
In writing His disciple Timothy, the Apostle Paul knew he was at the end of his life. He told Timothy he was now looking forward to his “crown of righteousness.”
The crowns in this photograph are the seed pods of the columbines. After they had lived their lives as flowers the columbine become little crowns with seeds that lead to new life.
Like the Apostle Paul, after we leave this life Christian believers will begin a new one. In that new life God will give us our own crown of righteousness.
Read all of 2 Timothy 4.
Beautiful close up of columbines.
