Count the Stars

Genesis 15:5-6 and The Big Dipper and the Stars of the Northern Sky, Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado

“An He {the Lord} took him outside and said, ‘Now look toward the heavens, and count the stars, if you are able to count them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.’ Then he believed in the LORD; and He reckoned it to him as righteousness.” Genesis 15:5-6

Can You Count the Stars?

Wow! Look at all those stars!

What makes this photo even more amazing is if we zoom in on the Big Dipper we see even more stars (see the two images below). The stars Abraham saw were uncountable and so it is for Abraham’s descendants, they too are uncountable.

The scripture tells us that not only does Abraham have physical descendants he has spiritual descendants (Galatians 3:7). If you believe in and follow Jesus you are a spiritual descendant of Abraham.

As a spiritual descendant of Abraham, God lit one of these stars for you!
