Into Your Hands I Commit My Spirit
Luke 23:46 and a Silhouetted Cross of Christ, Holy Family Shrine, Eastern Nebraska.
“And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, ‘Father, INTO YOUR HANDS I COMMIT MY SPIRIT.’ Having said this, He breathed His last.” Luke 23:46
Commit My Spirit
Jesus freely gave His life on the cross. With His dying words He said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” He did so to pay the penalty for our sins. He lived a perfect life to be our pure redeemer.
Nothing but the purity of Christ could make the perfect offering for our wrongdoings. As imperfect beings we could not earn our own redemption. Jesus loves us with an endless love. His love is not reckless, but relentless and therefore He paid the price for us.
The Bible calls us to repent (turn from our wrongful, sinful ways) and follow Him. To those who do, He blesses without measure.
