A Vision of the Promised Land

Deuteronomy 34:1,4 and a Woman sitting on a Mountain side, Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado.A woman hiker sits on the Mountain side of Mount Chapin of the Mummy Range, Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. Bible Verse of the Day: Deuteronomy 34 promise land

“Now Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo… Then the LORD said to him, ‘This is the land which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, “I will give it to your descendants”; I have let you see it with your eyes, but you shall not go over there.’” Deuteronomy 34:1,4

The Final Promised Land

I don’t live in one of these majestic areas I photograph. My family and I live in a simple home in Bellevue, Nebraska. My wife (in the above photo) and I long for a mountain home someday, but that someday may never come.

We long for the mountains because the beauty of nature gives us a tiny vision of our heavenly promise land. All our deep held longings here on earth point us to a better home. Someday our longing for that glorious home will be met.

Just like Moses, my wife and I may never get to a special  “promised land” here on earth, but just like Moses, someday we will get to our eternal promised land in heaven with Jesus. Read all Deuteronomy 34

Draw Near to God

Do You Want to Draw Near to God?

Do you think it’s possible to draw near to God through photography? Would doing so benefit you and your relationship with God? A path through the yellow colors of fall to draw near to God. Fontenelle Forest, Nebraska

I think it’s possible and I’ve been practicing it for years. Want to join me?

Stress of Life

Life offers us lots of noise and stress today. From homelife, to work, to the news, to relationships and of course from your phone. Clearly stress comes from a multitude of directions.

Everywhere you look there’s so much going on and so much that wants your attention. It can become very draining and somewhat depressing. So much noise and stress makes it hard for us to connect with and draw near to God.

A Path to Draw Near to God

What if you discovered a path that could lead you away from the stress and allowed you to draw near to God? What if this path gave you something creative and enjoyable to do while experiencing the spiritual and mental benefits of getting outside? I believe nature photography is that path.

Nature photography has long been a spiritual experience for me. The times I feel closest to God often come when I’m outside with my camera photographing His creation.

Good photography comes from within us. Exploring creation through photography while focusing on our moments with God enhances our experience and allows us to go deeper in our relationship with Him.

Secular researchers tell us that just taking a walk outside helps us in many ways. The more time we spend outside, the more those benefits grow. When we combine those mental and physical benefits with experiencing God outside we not only grow healthier, but we grow spiritually.

Exploring nature with a camera gives us a practical, creative and satisfying way to increase the physical, mental and spiritual benefits of being outside.

Moments with God

The best photographs emerge when we realize, it’s not about the photograph, but the time spent outside with God. A man standing on a cabin deck in a pine forest watching the sunrise. Draw near to God at the table in the wilderness camp in WyomingWe need to focus on the moments with God and let the photographs happen.

You can continue to get lost in the stresses of life or you can join me and learn how to better connect with God through nature photography. You can do this in a few different ways. If you like to learn more use the contact form below to send me a note and we will talk.
