In The Solitude of God’s Presence

Solitude and God’s Presence

There is nothing like the solitude of an early morning in the Canyon Lands alone with God and His creation to give you a feeling of oneness with your Creator. As I was shooting this scene I could not help but feel His presence all around me as a song of praise sprung from my soul.

God My Rock of Strength

“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” Psalm 18:1, 2

King David Declared, “God My Rock”

In the Bible’s Book of Psalm’s King David called God a rock 12 times. A study of the life of David shows that the fact he called God his rock is very significant. David conquered many foes and was a victorious warrior and king, yet this victorious warrior and conquering king called God his rock.

David lived a life filled with courage, strength and fortitude that most man would admire, yet he held to God as his ultimate source. King David knew that to rely on God is not a weakness, but our greatest source of strength.

Cloak of Light

“Covering Yourself with light as with a cloak, stretching out heaven like a tent curtain. He lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters; He makes the clouds His chariot; He walks upon the wings of the wind.” Psalm 104:2-3

Clothed with a Cloak of Light

In Psalm 104 we find a very poetic description of the God of creation. The writer uses the elegant beauty of a sunset (or sunrise) to describe the wonder of God.

The beauty we see in a sunset sky calls us to the beauty of our God clothed with a cloak of light. John Eldredge says it so wonderfully when he writes in the The Sacred Romance, “The beauty that so captures our hearts and is so fleeting draw us towards an eternal reality.”

There is no greater reality than God.

Pride: No Rainbows, Just Barren Ground

“Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before stumbling. It is better to be humble in spirit with the lowly than to divide the spoil with the proud.” Proverbs 16:18-19

The Bible Says Pride Leads to Destruction

The Bible doesn’t say much of anything good about pride. Time after time God’s Word condemns pride. At its very core pride says, “I am right in my own ways and in myself. I don’t need God nor do I need to follow His ways.”

When we see pride as the Bible describes it, it makes sense that the LGBQT?? community uses this word as their motto. And at its very core, this movement thumbs its nose at God and His created order to do things their own way and call them good. 

God calls each one of us to be humble and to walk in His ways. God’s ways are good, pure and lead to life. The LGBQT?? way does not lead to life. It cannot create life and only leads to destruction. No rainbows. Just faded, barren ground.

Pray for those caught up in homosexuality. Pray for our country.
