They Saw the Star
Matthew 2:10-11a and Rock Formations and Stars, Arches National Park, Utah.
“When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. After coming into the house they saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell to the ground and worshiped Him.” Matthew 2:10-11a
A Star of Faithfulness and Worship
This passage and the whole of Matthew Chapter 2 remind me of a couple things to keep in mind this Christmas. The first one is God’s faithfulness.
Jesus being born in Bethlehem showed God’s faithfulness to His servant King David who died almost 1,000 years earlier. God promised David that the Messiah would be a descendent of his. And as promised, Jesus came from the lineage of David, and He was born in the city of David’s birth.
Secondly, the wiseman “fell to the ground and worshiped Him.” Again, praise God! This Christmas, let us follow the wisemen and fall before our Lord and worship Him. May we always worship Him in our hearts. Celebrate Jesus this Christmas. Amen.
“O little Town of Bethlehem”
Verses 1 and 2
“O little town of Bethlehem
How still we see thee lie
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting Light
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight
“For Christ is born of Mary
And gathered all above
While mortals sleep, the angels keep
Their watch of wondering love
O morning stars together
Proclaim the holy birth
And praises sing to God the King
And Peace to men on earth.”
