Psalm 116:7-8 and a Resting Lion Cub
“Return to your rest, O my soul, For the Lord has dealt bountifully with you. For You have rescued my soul from death, My eyes from tears, My feet from stumbling.” Psalm 116:7-8
Rescued to Rest in God
Psalm 116 is a psalm of thanksgiving for God’s deliverance. In verse 116:3 the psalmist writes that death “encompassed” him and “the terrors” of death came upon him. He then writes that he, “found distress and sorrow.” But praise the Lord in verses 116:7-8 he declares that, God rescued him!
Sooner or later we all find ourselves in distress and sorrow. Our only true rescue comes from The Lord. Rest in God. He saves all those who believe.
