The Wisdom of Eagles

“Like an eagle that stirs up its nest, that hovers over its young, He spread His wings and caught them, He carried them on His pinions. The Lord alone guided him, and there was no foreign god with him.” Deuteronomy 32:11-12

As the Eagles Stir Their Nest

Bald eagles vigorously defend their nests. Not only do they defend their chicks, they defend the eggs before the chicks hatch. Both the mother and the father eagle know that within the eggs are their unborn offspring. Eagle parents have no doubt that inside their eggs are little eagles.

Sadly, humans differ from eagles. Many humans don’t recognize their unborn as little human beings. Even an animal as simple minded as an alligator will attack anything that comes after her unborn in their nest.

If God’s creatures recognize that their unborn are their offspring, why can’t people recognize that their unborn are their babies?

The month of January is the anniversary of the murderous Roe v Wade decision. As an eagle stirs its nest, may God stir our hearts to fight abortion and to stand up for our unborn.
