Psalm 62:5 and Blue Sky over the Blue Water of Bear Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado.
“My soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him.” Psalm 62:5
Waiting for God in Silence and Stillness
Sometimes the best way to hear from God is to practice the skill of being still. Modern life shouts too much, but God wants us to bring Him a still heart in a silent place. And He wants us to wait on Him.
Often that doesn’t mesh well with our desires. We want everything now and we don’t want to slow down, but that’s not how God works. He calls us to stillness and patience. And when we stop and slow down, only then do we realize how good that is for us.
If you’re not hearing from God or seeing prayers answered, perhaps its because He knows you need something more. He may know that your primary need is to slow down and be still.
Read all of Psalm 62.
On a side note: Rocky Mountain National Park got hit by two major fires last week. This photo was taken last year and this area was not hit by the fire.
