Luke 23:51-53 and a Silhouetted Cross, Papillion, Nebraska.
“Now there was a Council member named Joseph, a good and righteous man, who had not consented to their decision or action. He was from the Judean town of Arimathea, and was waiting for the kingdom of God. He went to Pilate to ask for the body of Jesus. Then he took it down, wrapped it in a linen cloth, and placed it in a tomb cut into the rock, where no one had yet been laid.” Luke 23:51-53
Laid in a Tomb
Joseph of Arimathea was one of the few godly Pharisees. He did not want Jesus’s body put in a mass grave so He asked the Roman Governor Pontius Pilate for the body of Jesus. With Pilate’s permission He took Jesus’s body down from the cross and laid it in a Tomb.
Because Joseph took the body of Christ and placed it in a marked tomb people knew where the body lay. Three days later, Christ rose from the dead, that tomb was empty and the Jews knew it.
Joseph’s simple act of faithfulness gave evidence for the risen Christ! What simply act of faithfulness has God ask you to do?
