Psalm 150:6 and a Cow Moose with a Calf, Glacier National Park, Montana
“Let everything that has breath praise the LORD!” Psalm 150:6
Everything that has Breath and All Creation
At my church we sing a song called “Christ be Magnified.” What a great title and topic for a song! But unfortunately the first two verses speak incorrectly about God’s creation.
The first verse says that if creation was suddenly articulate it would be like 1,000 tongues crying out to God. The second verse talks about if the whole of creation was echoing God’s eminence, Christ would be magnified.
What do the writers of the song mean by “If”? The Bible tells us that creation is already articulate and singing God’s praises. Many verses in the Bible tell us the creation magnifies God. If one cannot hear creation singing God’s praises, it’s because the hearer is spiritually tone deaf and not that the creation is inarticulate.
Just as a mother moose tenderly taking care of its calf points to a loving creator, all creation sings praises to God. Join creation and worship Him!
