Proverbs 6:6, 9 and an Ant on a Peony Bud, Bellevue, Nebraska.
“Go to the ant, O sluggard, Observe her ways and be wise… How long will you lie down, O sluggard? When will you arise from your sleep?” Proverbs 6:6, 9
To Be and Ant or a Sluggard?
Most often when the Bible mentions animals with admirable qualities it talks about things like lions and eagles, but in Psalm 6 it talks about ants. The lowly ant works hard and she is always on the job. Because of the ant’s work ethic Proverbs uses her to teach us.
Proverbs tells people, don’t be lazy, work like an ant. Laziness leads to poverty and to the suffering of those around you. When we don’t work things don’t go well for us. When we work we provide for those we love and we are productive members of the society we live in.
We bless others when we work.
