Psalm 78:19 and a Mesa, Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado. (Mesa Verde means Green Table)
“Then they spoke against God; They said, “Can God prepare a table in the wilderness.” Psalm 78:19
God Did Provide a Table in the Wilderness
Did you ever complain against God? God’s chosen people, the Israelites, often did as they wandered in the wilderness. They didn’t see God’s hand working among them because they chose not to see it.
They sarcastically and rhetorically ask the question, “Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?” The table represents God’s faithfulness and provision. The wilderness represents a time of trial, and they didn’t think God could provide for them during their time of trial.
Verse 20 shows that God did provide, but when he did they challenged & doubted Him even more.
Through our rough times, God gives us a table in the wilderness. When we open our eyes to His goodness, we see it. Let’s not live like the children of Israel and fail to see God’s goodness in our times of trial.
