“And Jesus summoned the crowd with His disciples, and said to them, ‘If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it’” Mark 8:34, 35

Taking up Our Cross

Contrary to popular belief, following Jesus isn’t supposed to be easy. He calls us to walk out of our comfort zones to serve Him. He calls us to give up things we treasure. He even calls us to give up our own lives. 

Many Christians around the world suffer persecution and death for the sake of Christ. Each year thousands and often tens of thousands of Christian believers are murdered for their faith.
