“O LORD, make me know my end and what is the measure of my days; let me know how fleeting I am! Behold, you have made my days a few handbreadths, and my lifetime is as nothing before you. Surely all mankind stands as a mere breath! Selah* (ESV) Psalm 39:4-5

The Fleeting Measure of My Days

Autumn came and went. Did you catch it? It didn’t last. Our lives don’t last either.

King David, the writer of Psalm 39, asked God to remind him of how fleeting his life was. Knowing his days on earth were short, David wanted to make sure he stayed right with God.

When Christian believers stay mindful of the fact our days are short, we are more likely to focus on God and His ways. The best thing we can do with our hours and days here on earth is to live them for God. We don’t have many, so let’s make them count.
