Our Mighty Immutable God
This mighty rock formation in Zion National Park, known as the East Temple, looks immovable and unchanging. But the knowledgeable observer knows that each jagged edge and cliff face is a sign of a crumbling mountain. The dunes along the base consist of the disintegrating rocks that have tumbled down from the mountain over time.
Every created thing withers away. Only God stays the same. Theologians say God is immutable, which is another one of His attributes. It means He does not change and cannot dissolve away.
God being immutable is significant. It means that all His other attributes will never change. He will always be loving, faithful, omniscient, omnipotent, wise and so on. We can trust in Him. He is the solid, everlasting rock on which to stand.
