“Once I have sworn by My holiness; I will not lie to David. His descendants shall endure forever and his throne as the sun before Me. It shall be established forever like the moon, and the witness in the sky is faithful.” Psalm 89:35-37
The Witness in the Sky is Faithfulness
God’s promises are true. He did not lie to His servant King David when He said to David that his throne, his decedents and his kingdom would last forever. As Christians, we are David’s descendants in faith and our Savior, Jesus Christ, is the heir to David’s throne.
God confirms the truth of His promise by referring to the ever rising and setting of the sun and moon. The faithfulness we see in the sky alludes to the faithfulness of our God. And the glory we see in the sky points to the greater glory of God.
As David’s descendants we will experience the full glory of God in Jesus Christ’s eternal kingdom.
