Hebrews 4:1 and a Canoe, Boundary Waters, Minnesota.
“Therefore, while the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us fear lest any of you should seem to have failed to reach it.” Hebrews 4:1 (ESV)
Through Belief We Enter God’s Rest
In the verses preceding this one, the writer of Hebrews recalls the story of how most of the Israelites that fled Egypt did not enter the Promised Land. He mentions that did not enter because of their unbelief and disobedience.
Even though they did not enter, the promise of entering God’s rest still remained. And today, the promise of entering God’s rest remains for those who believe and stay faithful to God.
The Bible promises that God’s rest is there for anybody who believes. Anyone can enter God’s rest through faith and obedience.
God’s perfect rest is found in Christ and lived out in eternity with Him.
