God Calls Us and Will Dwell Among Us

2 Corinthians 6:16b-17 and a Sunrise over Moraine Park Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado

“’I will dwell in them and walk among them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. Therefore, come out from their midst and be separate,’ says the Lord. ‘And do not touch what is unclean; and I will welcome you.’” 2 Corinthians 6:16b-17

God Calls Us

God calls us to be separate from the world. We know He call us not to live like people of the world, but He also calls us not to be “bonded together” (2 Corinthians 6:14) with them. This verse is where the phrase “unequally yoked” comes from. The King James Version, New International Version and English Standard Version all use the term “yoked” instead of bonded.

God wants us to remain holy and pure for Him. Being bonded to an unbeliever either through marriage, business or in some other way will strain our relationship with God.

When we stay free from the world and available to God, He will “Welcome” us and “dwell” with us.
