Crying out to God

Psalm 13:1-2, 5 and Tulip Leaves in Snow, Bellevue, Nebraska.Three tulip leaves poke through snow, Bellevue, Nebraska. Bible Verse of the Day: Psalm 13 1-2 tough times

“How long, O LORD? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? How long must I wrestle in my soul with sorrow in my heart each day… But I have trusted in Your loving devotion; my heart will rejoice in Your salvation.” Psalm 13:1-2, 5

Crying out in Tough Times

Sometimes life looks tough and it is. David experienced tough times when he wrote Psalm 13. He wrote it with raw emotion and biblical scholars consider it one of the psalms of lament.

The psalms of lament show us that when we experience hardship it’s okay to be real with our emotions before God. Crying out to Him is normal. So when you’re stressed, worried, hurt or experience a loss cry out to God. He listens.

Even though David’s pain didn’t disappear, at the end of the psalm he chose to praise God. Praising God is a choice. Let’s choose to praise God even in the tough times.
