Confidence in His Strength
Psalm 18:6 and Mount Carrie, Olympic National Park, Washington State.
“In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried to my God for help; He heard my voice out of His temple, and my cry for help before Him came into His ears.” Psalm 18:6
Confidence to Hold on too
The power of nature draws out our emotions. The emotions of mountains are confidence, stability and certainty. Mountains stand strong and resilient and give refuge to those who seek sanctuary.
Our God is the ultimate mountain. Our emotions bounce back and forth like the wind. But in the wind of our emotions God does not move. When our emotions blow us to and fro, He stands strong for us to hold on to.
Read all of Psalm 18.
The Lord calms my soul!
I love the imagery you put in this post about our emotions blowing to and fro like the wind, and Yahweh standing immutably like a mountain by comparison. I found myself acknowledging that there is such a thing as wind erosion which can wear away a mountain, but tremendously slowly. My takeaway from these thoughts are to make sure all that sways around me culturally is not allowed to erode what I believe is true about Yahweh, as revealed in His inerrant Word.
Thanks David! “My takeaway from these thoughts are to make sure all that sways around me culturally is not allowed to erode what I believe is true about Yahweh, as revealed in His inerrant Word.” Good thoughts!
Love this imagery brother, and David’s comment adds even more depth.
Our mountains (Idaho) are on fire right now. We had to evacuate our cabin and my parent’s home last night. She had to leave her outdoor cats behind. Please pray for rain (without lightning!) God’s mercy never fails!
