Isaiah 55:8-9 and a Water Drop on a Magnolia Bud, Sarpy County NebraskaA pine tree seen through a water drop as drips on a Magnolia Blossom and Bible Isaiah 55:8-9 My thoughts are not your thoughts

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9

God Declares, ‘My thoughts are not Your Thoughts’

When we look through a drop of water it distorts whatever we see through it. It makes things appear upside down, distorted in shape and backwards. The tree seen in the water drop above does not grow upside down, distorted in shape nor backwards. It’s only the way we see it through the drop that makes it look that way.

God’s ways often appear to us as upside down, distorted and backwards, but they never really are. Only our finite perspective makes our infinite God’s ways appear distorted. He knows more than we could ever imagine and He loves us more than we could ever imagine. Remember as we make our way through this world that God’s plan not only unfolds in this world, but also in the next. As Steven Curtis Chapmen sings in His song “Glorious Unfolding”, “So let us remember this life we’re living is just the beginning of the beginning.”

Read all of of Isaiah 55. This Scripture will greatly encourage you.

  1. Your interpretation in this scripture is spot on. His ways are not our ways, nor his thoughts our thoughts. Yet, his plan for the future includes us, all we need to do is trust in him.
