Sunset-on-the-Pacific-Ocean-from-a-beack-in-Olympic-National-Park-openning-photo           Most Christian believers know what the Bible says about creation in the Book of Genesis. But the Bible actually says a whole lot more about creation and nature beyond the pages of Genesis. What the Bible tells us about nature, or how it uses creation as metaphors reveals what nature declares to us about God.

Many times when the Bible mentions nature or the things of the wilderness it does so to reveal different attributes about God. The Bible uses creation:

  • To reveal God’s glory, splendor and majesty
  • In ways that speak of His greatness, power and other characteristics
  • As metaphors to describe how God protects and delivers us
  • To explain how He is our refuge and our salvation
  • As illustrations to show how God provides for us
  • And to tell us how great of a Creator our God is!

Clouds hover over a snow capped Longs Peak in Rocky-Mountain National Park           In this four-part series, I have compiled 101 verses or passages of Scripture that use nature in some way to point us to God. I found in my research hundreds of verses about God and His creation. It was a bit difficult to narrow them down to just 101. Some scripture verses I left together in longer passages and others I just left as one verse.

The verses and passages are divided into four different sections that will come to you as four separate PDFs or blog entries. I know not every believer is going to agree with how I categorize the sections and many verses are left out. I understand that some of your favorite verses may not be included, but this is how God led me to complete this series. My goal was to bless Christians and non-Christians alike in their journey to seek our Creator through His work.

The four sections of are as follows.

1)        God’s Greatness, Power and Other Revealed Attributes

2)        Praise and worship to our Glorious Majestic God

3)        Our Protector, Refuge, Deliver and Salvation

4)        Our Great Creator and Provider

Scripture passages that use creation and the wilderness to declare God’s greatness, power and other attributes is the first of the series on God and His creation. Even without the Bible our own eyes can see the greatness of God through the natural world. The Majesty of mountains; the serenity in the rush of a waterfall; the power of an ocean wave or the strength in the muscles of a horse all reveal something to us about God. It is no wonder the Bible contains many passages that use nature to speak of God’s attributes. Many of these passages can be found in the Book of Job and the Psalms, but the prophets also use nature to reveal how great God is. May you be blessed and empowered by these verses. Praise God!
