Do we long for the Garden of Eden?

The beauty of God’s creation calls to us. It tells something about the Garden of Eden. I believe that deep within our hearts is a desire for Eden–the home where the Bible tells us we were originally created to live. That is why we long for the things of nature. This video explores this longing in us.

Depend inside us we have longings that this world cannot satisfy. C. S. Lewis wrote, “If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.” The desire for the beauty of nature reveals some of these longings in us. If we were originally made to live in the Garden of Eden, then it would make sense that a desire for Eden resides in our heart.

When we see the beauty of nature it touches something deep within us that reminds us of the garden. Nature remains God’s creation and although it currently exist in a fallen state and is not as beautiful as it once was, it still reveals something to our heart about the paradise and we long for that paradise lost.
