We finally made it to the top. Many hours earlier we had started the long climb up from the valley below. After several days in the wilderness of Wyoming’s Wind River Range, myself and five other men packed about 30 pounds into each of our backpacks and headed up the high mountain ridge.
We decided to eat lunch on the ridge before we headed down the far side. I walked over to the ridge to eat. After lunch, I stood on a boulder overlooking the valley below. The mighty hand of our Creator overwhelmed me as I observed the richness of the valley and the majesty of the rugged mountains. God’s power, wisdom, majesty and infinite nature were clear to see. My heart worshiped Him there.
There is something about the majesty of creation that calls to our heart about God. The Bible says it will do that, but most of us are too attached to our modern-day, suburban lives and cannot hear the call or at least we do not respond.
We need and silently long for something more. When I stood on that ridge over looking the valley, creation spoke to me about God. We all need to experience creation in a way they can teach us something personable about God. When we spend time outside and look at what God has made, His creation will speak to our hearts about Him.
Scripture uses creation many times as a springboard into worshiping God. The Majesty of God’s creation truly calls us to worship Him. In this section of the Beyond Genesis Project, we will look at many passages of Scripture that use nature while expressing words of worship to our Lord. You can meditate on these passages in the mountains, at the ocean, at a lake, a local nature preserve, a park, flower garden, your own backyard or even standing at a window watching birds at a feeder.
